In September 2023, representatives from five European cities gathered in Barcelona for the first-ever Nets4Dem Democracy Lab, where they collaborated to find innovative digital solutions to some of the most pressing democratic challenges facing their local administrations.
The Democracy Lab, co-organised by Eurocities and Barcelona City Council, was part of Barcelona’s tenure as the European Capital of Democracy (ECoD) for 2023-2024. This initiative provided a unique platform for cities to collaborate on pilot projects, share best practices, and develop new strategies for promoting participatory democracy.
